Rent-to-own in California: state-specific terms apply

California residents: rent-to-own agreements in California are governed by the Karnette Rental-Purchase Act (Civil Code §§1812.620 et seq.). Your written agreement with the funder will contain the disclosures required by that Act, including a disclosure box showing the Total of Payments, Cost of Rental, Cash Price, Amount of Each Payment, Number of Payments, and Rental Period. Your agreement will also disclose your early purchase rights and reinstatement rights as required by California law. California limits the cash price and the total of payments that may be charged; your funder is responsible for complying with those limits.
