Our Commitment to Customers, Dealers, and the Industry

Last updated: June 1, 2026

RentToOwnSheds.com is the directory that connects shoppers with shed dealers and the rent-to-own funders that serve them. The actual lease agreements are between consumers and funders such as RTO National, LLC; the buildings are sold and delivered by the dealers. We are not the lessor and not the seller — but we are responsible for how we present this information.

These are the commitments we operate under. They are aligned with the public industry-standards framework maintained by the Association of Progressive Rental Organizations (APRO), the national trade association for the rent-to-own industry. They are our own commitments, in our own words.

Transparency

We present each shed listing with a clear cash price, a clear monthly rent-to-own payment, and a clear total of payments needed to reach ownership. When we do not have verified cash-price data for a listing, we say "Contact dealer for pricing" rather than guess. We disclose that the total of payments will exceed the cash price.

Honesty about what rent-to-own is

Rent-to-own is a lease with an option to own, not a loan. We do not use APR, interest rate, or "build equity" framing because those describe credit transactions, not lease-purchase transactions. We describe the trade-offs of rent-to-own honestly, including that it costs more than paying cash.

Honesty about what we are

We are a directory and lead-generation service. We are not the lessor of any rent-to-own agreement. We are not a party to the contract between you and the funder. We say this clearly in our footer, in our disclosures, and on every product listing.

Non-discrimination

We do not discriminate against customers, prospective customers, dealers, or applicants on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, source of income, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.

Customer concerns

When a customer raises a concern about a listing, a dealer, or the information on this site, we respond. If the concern is about a specific rent-to-own agreement, we connect the customer to the funder or dealer responsible — but we will not ignore the concern.

Accuracy

We work to keep our dealer directory accurate. When we learn a listing is wrong, we update it. Customers, dealers, and funders can reach us to correct anything they see.

State compliance

We follow the rent-to-own laws of each state we serve. We do not offer rent-to-own applications in states whose laws treat rent-to-own as a credit transaction (currently Minnesota, New Jersey, and Wisconsin) and in any other state where we cannot ethically operate under our current licensing posture (currently Wyoming, on a precautionary basis pending further review).

Continuous improvement

The rent-to-own industry evolves and so does our site. We update our disclosures, our content, and our practices as state laws change, as the industry's standards mature, and as we learn from customer feedback.
